Thousands of Dolphins Form ‘Mega Pod’ in California’s Monterey (www.goodnewsnetwork.org)

In places with abundance of food, pods can merge temporarily, forming a superpod – may exceed 1,000 dolphins.

Recently posted at Monterey Bay Whale Watch’s Evan Brodsky’s Instagram of a dolphin “mega pod”—where thousands of these marine mammals school together in one massive pod that stretches from one end of Brodsky’s video camera lens to the other.

“On this day we saw thousands and thousands of long-beaked common dolphins spread out for miles! Literally every splash you see is a dolphin,” Brodsky said, filming the march with his drone.
